The parent empowerment series include interactive courses on a variety of topics intended for families of children with autism. The purpose of the series is to present information on each topic, encourage discussion, and provide simple techniques aimed at facilitating meaningful outcomes for the entire family. Each session focuses on a unique topic. Families are welcome to sign up for one or more sessions. This program is provided in partnership with the Autism Center of the Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart.
August Session: Behavior Speaks – Increasing Functional Communication
Functional communication is the ability for someone to communicate their basic needs and feelings effectively. Join us for this presentation where we explore the benefits of functional communication and how to help build this skill across settings.
Attendance covers handouts, a light lunch, and childcare during the presentation. Information on signing up for childcare will be sent after registration.
Cost: $20 per person or $30 per household (2 attendees)
