Steps for Autism 2017 - by Jonathan Creek
On Saturday, September 30, the Blue Wahoos stadium was buzzing with activity as Autism Pensacola celebrated its 6th Steps for Autism event. With over 600 in attendance, autism families, community friends, first responders, and the business community came together to walk and celebrate #Steps2Acceptance in the beautiful downtown venue.
For this year’s event, API recognized the first responders who work tirelessly to keep our community safe. Pensacola Police Sgt. Jimmy Donohoe, Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan, Pensacola Fire Chief David Allen and Escambia Search and Rescue director Jon Rhodes were honored with plaques, presented by API President and CEO Susan Byram.
Funds raised by this event support the mission and programs of Autism Pensacola, including safety, quality of life, and awareness initiatives in both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the walk stay in our local area.
Thank you to our business supporters!
Community connection is part of Autism Pensacola’s mission: creating an accessible and accepting community for all living with autism along the Gulf Coast. Thank you to those community leaders who helped make Steps 2017 possible!
